one release — more when we get one

We build exactly what the drawing says.

A small studio inside VGRIZ Industries. We take game designs from people who have the idea but not the tooling, and we build them without changing anything. We do not improve the design. Improving it would make it a different game.

Our mission“Build it the way it was drawn.”

Out now · first release

Egg Beach

Egg Beach arrived as a hand-lettered poster and a strip of paper with the rules on it. You run the opposite direction, something chases you, it does not stop, and the end goes kind of fast. That is the whole design and it is a complete one.

We did not correct the spelling, redraw the poster, or adjust the rules to make them easier to implement. The poster is in the game because the poster is part of the game.

How we work.

There is not much to it, which is the point.

The design comes first

We start from something already drawn — a poster, a sketch, a page of rules. We do not commission it and we do not brief it. It has to already exist.

We ask before we change

If something in the design can't be built as written, we go back and ask. We have not yet had to. Most designs are more buildable than people expect.

The designer is the designer

Whoever drew it is credited as the designer, in full, in the same place we credit ourselves. There is no separate category for it.

We ship it free

Everything we build is free to play in a browser, with no account, no telemetry, and nothing collected. This was a condition of the studio being set up and it is not negotiable.

Egg Beach — credits.

Reproduced as they appear in the game.

Design & art
Supplied by the designer, aged seven.

Poster, characters, and the full set of rules. Delivered on paper. Accepted as final.

Rules
Reproduced as written.

Including the spelling, which is the designer's and stays.

Everything else
Sector 9 Games.

Code, input handling, and getting it into a browser. None of the interesting decisions.

Notes
No changes were requested and none were made.

Two were discussed internally and both were dropped.

What's next.

Nothing is announced. We are waiting for the next drawing, and we don't hurry that part. If you have one, or you know someone who does, send it to [email protected]. Paper is fine. A photograph of paper is fine.
